Share a fantasy without turning it into a request

A low-pressure script for revealing curiosity while leaving your partner genuinely free to respond.

Separate imagination from intention

A fantasy can be exciting as a thought and unwanted in real life. Begin by saying which you mean: “I like imagining this; I’m not asking to do it,” or “I’d like to discuss a gentle version.” That distinction removes much of the pressure.

Listen for the ingredient

The appealing part may be surprise, attention, surrender, being watched or simply novelty. If the literal scenario is a no, the emotional ingredient may still have a safe, mutually wanted expression.

Try this: Ask, “What part of that idea feels most alive to you?” Respond with curiosity before giving your answer.
